Our first day in Uganda was spent with the ministry team developing our schedule for the two weeks and in developing a constitution for the Ugandan branch of Mercy Uganda. Mercy Uganda is seeking nonprofit status in Uganda and according to the government documents, a constitution is required.
Mercy Uganda does have a mission statement and a statement of faith. They also have much documentation for the U.S. version of the constitution but the Ugandan requirements are a bit more detailed. We hashed through the language for the vision, values, motto and reviewed some logo artwork Henry prepared in advance of the meeting.
I served as the secretary for this meeting but was thrilled to be invited to contribute as well. This kind of business planning is exciting for me, I was so thankful to be considered a valuable contributor. We’ll spend the next two days working to finish the document in preparation for a board meeting later in our trip.
