I have the privilege of delivering one package to one orphan in Uganda, supplied by her sponsor. What a wonderful joy this will bring to Olivia. But what if that was it? What if that was all I could give? One is better than none but…we are the richest nation on earth. Surely I could give just a little more.
The great news is that thanks to no fewer than 13 people, I can deliver two overstuffed suitcases full of gifts for the people we’ll be ministering to in Uganda. The gift from just one person will indeed have a Kingdom impact. But think of what the gifts from 13 people will do.
• One package for Olivia, the sponsored child I am visiting on behalf of my friend.
• Two packages for two of Olivia’s friends.
• Lots and lots of children’s clothing.
• One big box of toys including 6 new sets of coloring books and crayons.
• Lots of samples of soaps, dental floss, and lotions.
• Piles of pillow cases for the Ugandan women to make into children’s dresses.
• Lots of children’s books and a few Bibles.
• Two sheet sets for the ministry liaison, Lauren.
• Dove soap, deodorant, and chocolate for our hostess, Lauren.
• A mosquito net, DEET, and 70 spf sun block for me to use and then leave behind.
Your financial donations work the same way. The donation from one person will help. Perhaps it will buy one family a cow. Perhaps it will buy a small group of women one sewing machine to share. Perhaps it will buy school books for one student for one year.
Just imagine…imagine what could happen if 13 or more of you gave $250, $100, or even $50. We could raise a whole village out of hunger. We could prevent a whole orphanage full of children from getting malaria. We could teach a generation of women to become financial contributors to their families.
Let me take this opportunity to encourage you to give. Your donations will be used to directly impact Ugandan lives…not to pay for my personal expenses. I would even be happy to spend your donation as you specifically direct. Watch for stories posted every day (internet connection permitting) about how your money directly benefits the people in Uganda. Let me not come home with one urgent Ugandan need left unmet.
Be bold, be faithful, and be obscenely generous!
