Julius is a young Kapchowra man who serves in so many functions at the Sipi Falls Lodge – porter, waiter, and tour guide. As tour guide, Julius navigated the various dirt paths through peoples’ yards (using the term loosely) to several beautiful falls. Before we were done he’d shown us the house he is building, he’s very proud of that house.
Julius also showed us the coffee bean farm he started. He’s got beans in several stages of maturation. Bugisu Arabica coffee beans only grow at an altitude of between 1,600 and 1,900 meters (5,249 and 6,233 feet) and Julius could tell you anything you ever wanted to know about coffee start to finish.
Julius is an example of a successful young man finding things to do that need to be done. He’s finding a way to earn a living for himself and is motivated to be good at everything his hands find to do. As are most Ugandans that I’ve met, Julius is kind, quiet, and service-oriented.
